We all know I’m kind of obsessed with ruffles right now. The ruffle trend has really popped back up in the last few months and I’m so glad it has. If you had asked me years ago, I probably would have told you that ruffles are only for little girls. The great thing about personal style is that it can change and evolve over time as our own tastes change. I think there is something so feminine and romantic about ruffles. It can be very easy to go overboard so my advice is to have a discerning eye when it comes to this style. If you can find just the right balance, you’ll be sure to capture a look that is equal parts feminine and sophisticated. I spotted this royal blue ruffle dress at ASOS a few weeks ago and it was love at first sight. What can I say, the $43 price tag really spoke to me 🙂 I also really love the vibrant royal blue color of this dress. I’ve linked it along with some other beautiful royal blue dresses below.
Size and Fit
This dress is very light and airy so it’s great for the warmer months. It runs true to size (I’m wearing a US 8) and is a great length for petites. I’m 5’0 and it falls just above my knees. This dress is 100% polyester so it’s soft and strong, drapes well, is machine-washable, and (most importantly) resists wrinkling. When my package arrived in the mail, the dress was folded up in a clear clothing bag but it came out completely wrinkle free.
In my opinion, a great ruffle piece can truly stand alone. Be careful not to overload on accessories or go overboard on the ruffles. You don’t want to end up looking like Seinfeld. For this look, I opted for some classic Chanel statement earrings and kept the rest of my accessories neutral and light.
