Ruffles with Red Dress Boutique

Is anyone else really happy that tomorrow is Friday? This week has been a very busy one for me. I had full intentions to get this post up yesterday but Alabama’s Governor declared a statewide “state of emergency” due to the chance of severe weather. Aside from some strong winds and golf-ball size hail, we managed to avoid any severe weather damage. It is unseasonably cold and windy today so I’m looking forward to this weekend and the 80 degree weather.

Today’s outfit is one of my all-time favorites because ruffles are involved. Both my blouse and skirt are from Red Dress Boutique, which is probably my favorite online boutique. They have so many gorgeous items and everything is very reasonably priced. My navy plaid skirt is a wool blend but it’s surprisingly breathable so it’s still great for the warmer months. It fits true to size and has such a flattering shape. It’s also on sale for less than $31! I paired it with the prettiest ivory bell sleeve top that is lightweight but not at all transparent. It seems like every time I find a great white or ivory blouse that is lightweight, it’s also sheer and requires some sort of cami underneath, which really defeats the purpose. This top is perfection and also comes in olive green and this gorgeous red.  I’ve also linked a couple other great bell-sleeve tops below!

My Rockstud pumps are the 4 inch version, but they now come in a 3.5″ heel version as well! I usually have a hard time walking in 4 inch heels that don’t have straps but these are actually really comfortable and easy. I wear a 6 in flats but I always size down to a 5.5 in pumps. I ordered these about a month ago before the 3.5 inch heel was available. I probably would have opted for the 3.5″ version but I’m happy with these taller ones. Most websites will tell you that Valentino runs small so to order a half size up. I have found that, for me, Valentino’s actually run true to size. I was at Neiman Marcus a few months ago and I asked one of the shoe sales consultants about this. He told me that for women with a size 7 foot and up, Valentino and Louboutin do run a half size small. For women who are a size 6 and smaller, they actually need to size DOWN in designer brands. This is entirely correct for me. I wear a size 36 in the flats and t-strap pump and a size 35.5 in regular pumps. I don’t live near any stores that carry designer brands so I always order from Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus because they have great return policies just in case you need to try a few sizes before finding your perfect fit.

    • Hi Missy! Check out Kaitlyn Pan on Amazon! She has some really great dupes of Valentino slingbacks and sandals. I think she has an Etsy shop too 🙂
I haven’t seen them in person myself but The Teacher Diva did a blog post comparison of the Kaitlyn Pan version compared to the real Valentinos and they look identical!

  1. I love your style! you have a new follower in Instagram 🙂 I unfortunately, can’t be very stylish with my outfits these days as with a baby and a toddler I only wear practical jeans and sneakers.

  2. I love ruffle skirts. I wore them all the time when I went to work. Now that I work from home, I barely get any opportunities to wear them
