I was cleaning out my closets a few weeks ago when I stumbled upon an old Modcloth dress from six years ago….and it still had the tags. For those of you that don’t know, I started a weight loss journey in September 2015 and have lost 70 pounds. I actually remember buying this dress in size medium, the only size still in stock at the time, and hoping that it would fit but knowing in my heart that it wouldn’t. I loved it so much that I bought it anyway and hoped it (along with all the other too small dresses in my closet) would motivate me to lose the weight. When I found it in the back of my spare closet, I quickly tried it on and was so happy to see that it fit! The sleeves were too long and the pleated skirt had a small tear but my tailor was able to fix it right up. I paired it with my new rockstud sandals (read more below) and my favorite Kate Spade bow satchel that is on sale! I think the deep burgundy color of this dress is so beautiful and great for any season. I’ve linked some similar dresses below!
I ordered a new pair of Valentino Rockstud Sandals from Saks several months ago but up until two weeks ago it’s been too cold in North Alabama for sandals. Early January we had some freezing rain and a little bit of snow but ever since then the temperature has been in the high 60s and even low 70s. I went back and forth on these sandals for a while and I’m so glad I decided to get them. The come in two heel height variations, a 3.75 inch heel and a lower 2.25 inch heel. I’m wearing the 3.75 heel in the color “cognac”. The soft straps and block heel actually make these a very comfortable pair of heels. I wore them all day last Saturday shopping then to the park with my step kids. (I don’t usually wear heels to the park. It was a spur of the moment detour in our plans for the day)
If you love these heels but aren’t quite ready for the splurge, don’t fret! I’ve found these $35 dupes on Amazon. I haven’t ordered from this Amazon seller before so I can’t attest to the quality of comfort of this dupe. However, for $35 and Amazon’s generous return policy, what do you have to lose? 🙂
